1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Youneedto ("the App", "the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These Terms apply to all users of Youneedto, regardless of how you access the Service (web, mobile browser, or any future native application).

2. Who Can Use Youneedto

You must be at least 13 years old to use Youneedto. If you are between 13 and 18 years old, you confirm that you have your parent or legal guardian's permission to use the Service.

By creating an account, you confirm that:

• You are at least 13 years old
• You will provide accurate information during registration
• You will keep your account credentials secure
• You are not prohibited from using the Service under applicable law

3. What Youneedto Is

Youneedto is a private recommendation-sharing app. It allows users to create and join small private groups ("clubs") of up to 20 members and share recommendations for movies, series, books, music, and other media.

Youneedto is not a public social network. All clubs are private and invite-only. Content shared within a club is only visible to club members.

You retain ownership of any content you submit to Youneedto, including notes, comments, and profile information. By submitting content, you grant Youneedto a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to store, display, and transmit that content solely for the purpose of operating the Service.

You agree not to post content that:

• Is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or harassing
• Infringes any third-party intellectual property rights
• Contains malware, spam, or deceptive links
• Is sexually explicit or inappropriate for minors
• Violates the privacy of others

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or network
• Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service without written permission
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Circumvent any technical measures we use to enforce these Terms
• Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited communications
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code not already publicly available under our open source license

Youneedto's source code is published under the MIT License at github.com/youneedto. This means:

• You may inspect, fork, modify, and distribute the code under the terms of the MIT License
• You must include the original copyright notice and MIT License text in any copies or substantial portions of the code
• The MIT License is permissive — no copyleft requirements apply to your modifications
• Using the Service via network does not grant you a license to use our hosted infrastructure, domain, or brand

The MIT License governs the code. These Terms govern your use of our hosted Service. Both apply simultaneously.

Your use of Youneedto is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please read it carefully.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of data as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Upon requesting deletion:

• A 24-hour grace period begins during which you may cancel the deletion
• After the grace period, your account is permanently deleted
• Your recommendations are anonymized and remain visible as "Deleted user"
• You will receive a goodbye email with a summary of your activity before deletion

We may also suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms.

12. Intellectual Property

The Youneedto name, logo, and brand are owned by the project maintainers. The underlying source code is licensed under the MIT License. You may not use our name, logo, or brand in a way that implies endorsement or affiliation without written permission.

Content from third-party providers (movie posters, metadata, etc.) is used under their respective licenses and APIs. We do not claim ownership of third-party content.

13. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Content provided by third-party APIs (TMDB, Google Books, etc.) is accurate or up to date
• The Service will meet your specific requirements

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Youneedto and its maintainers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or USD $10, whichever is greater.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Mexico and, where applicable, the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction in Mexico, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
